Poker ProThe Benefits Of SIT-AND-GO TournamentsOne of the most common types of poker action online is the sit-and-go tournament.They're so popular that many live casinos are now offering daily sit-and-go events as part of their action. Sit-And-Go tournaments can consist of one to four tables of players, all playing for a shared prize pool. The shorter the playing field, the fewer the number of players who can finish in the money. One single table event will usually only have three winners, while a short table of six players will only have two. Blinds tend to elevate at a faster rate than in multi-table tournaments, so sit-and-go strategy is usually structured around the level of the blinds vs your stack size. Therefore early levels of the tournament don't take on as much importance as they will in the later stages. It's better to play a trapping type of game with premium cards early on. Trap opponents that are playing over-aggressively or ones that are making positional raises to steal the blinds. It's an easy way to double up and build your stack without playing too many hands. You can play your premium hands aggressively in the later positions because it will often be seen as positional move by your opponents. When in the lead after a flop, only slow-play very big hands, otherwise bet for value to discourage drawing opponents from sticking around. As the tournament progresses you want to try and balance your stack size with the blind levels. it's easier to get short-stacked in these tournaments because the blinds rise so fast, so you have to get in there and play aggressively if your stack falls too far under average. Winning a sit-and-go tournament requires that you take chances with hands that you may not normally play, because waiting for good hands is not an option. Use your position to steal blinds, and get your chips in there with a big hand like big slick or a big pair.  If you're on the big stack you can often bully the other players, who are thinking to survive to the money. Make big bets that you can afford to steal pot after pot, until someone stands up to you. If you're on the short stack, you're looking for a half-decent hand where no one has raised it so you can take your chances and try and double up. Otherwise you'll blind out. You might as well go down fighting. Head-to-head strategy will depend on the stack sizes of you and your opponent. If you have the lead you have to force the action most hands, while periodically trying to appear weak with a good hand. A desperate short-stacked player will jump at the chance to steal if you show weakness, then you can raise and get their money in play while you're holding the best hand. If you're on the short stack, you want to force the action with any hand over Queen-high, unless your opponent made a sizable raise into you. These tournaments add more value to your game than just playing experience and potential winnings. They're great action at which to practice your final table skills. These skills are significant because they're the difference between the biggest prizes in a tournament. There's a big difference between seventh and second place money in a big multi-table tournament. Sit-and-go tournaments allow yow to practice this otherwise rare playing situation. They also allow you to play in a tournament setting without having to commit between four to seven hours of your time to complete. Most take between 20 minutes to an hour to finish.
